Elena Pass Brown
Teen Ambassador STOMP Out Bullying™

Elena Pass Brown is a freshman at UCLA and for the past five years has served as a teen ambassador for STOMP Out Bullying. Elena has supported Blue Shirt Day® World Day of Bullying Prevention™ during her school years at Dobbs Ferry high School, and has led school-wide activities to raise awareness about bullying and cyberbullying. She continues her work as a Teen Ambassador at UCLA.

Brown received academic awards for French and math, as well as the Saint Michael's College Book Award for her outstanding dedication to the community. She was honored in 2012 with a Community Service Award from the school district’s PTSA.  In addition to speaking out against bullying, Elena is an animal rights activist and supports a number of anti-animal cruelty and endangered species causes.  She serves as a volunteer dog handler for Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities and volunteers at the Greenburgh Nature Center. She served on the Communications Committee for her school district, as well as the DASA (Dignity for all Students Act) Committee, where she advocated for equality and rights for students. Elena was selected to participate in the National History Day Competition and was tapped by the school superintendent to serve on the Strategic Steering Committee for the district.  She was featured on the Superintendent's television show, “District Dialogue,” where she spoke about her efforts as a Teen Ambassador.

Elena explains that she always understood that bullying is wrong, but did not always realize all the ways someone could be bullied.  “Bullying is not just getting picked on physically, although it can be.  I have learned that bullying can be subtle—such as isolating someone or making them feel left out.  But the impact it has is not subtle—it can be devastating.”  She wants to help others understand that bullying comes in all forms but always at a high price.  “Having the confidence to STAND UP against bullying takes courage and I want to be an example to others,” she said.

Her work as a Teen Ambassador includes speaking alongside television talk-show host and former Disney star Adrienne Bailon at a fundraiser at the Apollo Theater and appearing in a public service announcement for FOX Sports with football stars Michael Strahan and Howie Long. She was invited to speak at the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington D.C. to high school students and Congressional wives as part of the conference. She spoke on a panel hosted by the Westchester City Council to advocate for the legislation of anti-bullying laws.

Elena enjoys soccer, basketball, fashion, and theater. She recently took up golf, and serves as the varsity team captain. A high-honor roll student, Elena is a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in the French Club, Drama Club and Yearbook Club. She is also participating in the world renowned International Baccalaureate program.  Brown interned for a fashion house in the garment district in New York City and started the first ever Fashion Club at school, where she mentored middle school students who had a passion for the industry. She also has studied at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) in business skills, handbag design, and fashion trends.
