Rosie enjoys reading, playing basketball, helping people, music and anything revolving around science; mainly geology. She has always been fascinated by learning and loves to learn new things from how to bake a cake to the lyrics from the song “Beautiful Day” by U2. Rosie loves to teach people and help them learn.
She enjoyed reading anything from Diary of a Wimpy Kid to Eyewitness: Rocks and Mineral and was considered a “Book-Nerd” with her nose buried in books. Kids started to notice her reading habits and criticized her for it. One day, the girls were being harsher than usual and Rosie found my voice telling them if they had a problem with her and her reading to just say so and not say things they can’t take back. That day, she learned that the words we say have the power to change lives, in a good or bad way.
People are meant to learn and go to school to get an education. We shouldn’t have to fear going to school for fear of being bullied. Rosie wants to make a positive difference on the world. The world doesn’t change -- the only thing that changes is you. We have the power to change and influence others in a positive or negative way. It depends on all of us.
Rosie Ruiz looks forward to changing things for all “Book Nerds” and others everywhere as a Youth Ambassador for STOMP Out Bullying.
