Meet Willow Shields, STOMP Out Bullying’s 2024 Pride Ambassador
At STOMP Out Bullying, we are thrilled to introduce our 2024 Pride Ambassador, Willow Shields. Known for her breakout role as Primrose Everdeen in "The Hunger Games'' series, Willow has captivated audiences worldwide with her talent and dedication. Beyond her acting career, Willow is a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and a proud member of the queer community. We are excited to have her on board as our Pride Ambassador, working together to promote acceptance, inclusion, and stand up against bullying.
"Hi, it's Willow Shields forSTOMP Out Bullying. I wanted to talk a little bit about Pride Month, my experience being queer, coming out and everything that comes with that."
"I am queer. Or you could call me bi or pan. Any of those work for me. And I've been out for about two years now and it was such an incredible experience coming out. Of course there were the downsides of people not accepting who I am. When I posted about it on Instagram, I had a lot of supporters and a lot of people that disagreed with my being myself, which was really frustrating and hard. But the beauty of Pride Month especially is seeing the celebration of queer people everywhere. You know, celebration, awareness of what's happening, not just here in the US, but all over the world, the importance of accepting queer people for who they are no matter what. It's so important. And I really hope that if you're watching this, whether you're queer or not, you learn that accepting people for who they are is the best thing that you can do, not only for yourself, but also for them to support them, to show them love and care."
"So if you're queer or you want to come out as queer, I support you 1,000%. I'm so excited for you. And I think it's just an incredible experience to celebrate Pride Month together, knowing that there are so many people that really need that celebration, that really need that care and love moving forward to really feel safe and happy as a queer person.
